My granddaughter is almost 6. She was able to sit down and make potholder the first time. Thought she would lose interest but loved it. I would totally recommend it. It's nice because it comes with a case to keep everything contained. I bought extra loops but it comes with quite a few- probably would make 2 potholders if you were not trying to be color specific.
